IoDF and Oakley are proud to present the ‘Artifacts From The Future Innovation Lab’, a three-day moment designed to unite and inspire radical thinkers.
The IoDF and Oakley cohort ‘The Oakley Future 5 – powered by IoDF’ are five pioneering creatives chosen from a global open call to take part in the Artifacts From The Future Innovation Lab. A three-day cultural moment hosted in London from 3–5 July 2025.
Rooted in Oakley’s radical design legacy and driven by a commitment to future craft, the Oakley Future 5 will participate in immersive workshops, receive mentorship from global experts, and co-create visionary tools for the world of 2075, spanning eyewear, apparel, footwear, and beyond.
Meet the Oakley Future 5
Khumo Morojele
Self-taught designer and creative director from Johannesburg whose work celebrates upcycling, material storytelling and Black creativity.
Lexi Scharpf (Studio FCLX)
Founder of Studio FCLX, a multidisciplinary fashion studio known for latex design, 3D printing, AI experimentation and biomaterials.
Nigel Matambo
Technologist and Apple Scholar, RCA graduate and AR innovator with design work for Virgil Abloh at Louis Vuitton and Pharrell’s Joopiter.
Harry Whitfield (Charity Kase)
London-based artist, drag performer and designer known for over 1,000 surreal, character-driven fashion looks and RuPaul’s Drag Race fame.
Joe Brimicombe
Founder of a namesake menswear label launched in 2020, specialising in bespoke, upcycled garments seen on Romeo Beckham and Machine Gun Kelly.
Inside the IoDF Innovation Lab
Oakley Future 5 experience, participants will engage in future-focused workshops led by IoDF's leading voices in design and technology. The Oakley Future 5 will explore:
Archive as Interface: Reimagining Oakley’s design icons including Eyeshades, Eye Jacket, Sub-Zero, Medusa and more.
Athletes as cultural icons: A study of Jaylen Brown, Kylian Mbappé, and Trinity Rodman through the lens of Oakley’s campaign.
More Than Human design: Led by Josephine Chanter, Deputy Director of the Design Museum and co-founder of Future Observatory.
Generative AI workshop: Run by Jocelyn Burnham, founder of AI for Culture, previously with Tate and Arts Council England.

Archive as Interface. Exploring Oakley’s historical icons: Eyeshades, Eye Jacket, Straight Jacket, Over The Top, Mumbo, M-Frame, X-Metal, Blades, Racing Jacket, Sub-Zero and Medusa.
Athletes as cultural icons: Jaylen Brown, Kylian Mbappé and Trinity Rodman, who feature in Oakley’s Artifacts From The Future campaign.

NEWS IoDF Oakley Open Day — 5 July
On Friday 5 July, the Innovation Lab space will open to the public for one day only.

Selected visitors will explore Oakley’s iconic archive, experience future-focused installations, and receive a personalised digital souvenir. The space immerses guests in a futuristic Oakley world where heritage and innovation meet.
